We have experienced an array of events and emotions this year. With setbacks and comebacks, we share in this moment the miracle of life. Through all the societal chaos, violence, uneasiness, fear, anxiety, and uncertainty that looms, there is still a preciousness and beauty on this journey called life that presents us with infinite possibilities to serve others and the ability to create the life we envision filled with intent, meaning, and purpose.
Each year can present us with many invaluable learning and growth experiences. While not always pleasant and comfortable in the moment, they are necessary in order for us to progress forward and uncover the outer depths of who we are.
The following three life lessons have had a profound impact on my holistic growth and development in 2017.
In order to change behavior, we have to change the way we view and react to events in our lives. 2017 taught me the transformative power of simplicity. I have been able to effectively manage my 86,400 seconds each day to declutter and cleanse my mental and physical spaces in order to allow more insights of inspiration and possibility to flow into my life.
Focus On What’s In Control
Every year will present its fair share of adversity and experiences outside of our control. But we have much more control over our lives and destiny then we think. I have spent 2017 seeking to grow my collective consciousness to become more strategic in managing my time, energy, environment and most sacred space: my mind. I have chosen to overcome my setbacks by choosing to control my attitude, effort, behavior, and reactions to life’s obstacles.
Examine Life On a Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly Basis
With the constant grind of responsibilities in our lives, it is second nature to equate busyness with productivity. 2017 taught me if I do not consciously think of new creative ways to experience life, it is easy to become fixated on “busy work” routines and journey on autopilot. This shift has enabled me to enjoy and appreciate the infinite beauty and new opportunities that permeates my living each day.
The time for urgency has never been more paramount. As 2018 approaches we must refocus and revitalize our mind, body, and spirit. We must manage our energy, time and environment wisely and earnestly. The time is now, at this moment to do better and to be better. Realize deeply success does not have business hours, it only has production hours. Let what you do be an expression of who you are in 2018!
